John & Penny West established Lansdown Pottery in 1999. Their work is mainly functional, 
made from stoneware clay and fired in a gas kiln to 1280/1300 degrees centigrade.  
Their colourful glazes are influenced a lot by the East.

|  | More recently they have had a wood firing kiln built with the help of Joe Finch, which is used for more individual pieces.  
The firing process uses Soda to give a very special effect.

John & Penny also run education classes for the 
public and have a teaching workshop in the middle of 
Stroud at the Centre for Science & Art.  Pottery Sessions for beginners and enthusiasts:
 
Monday evenings, 6.30 - 9.00 p.m.Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.   10.00am - 12.30pm
 Tuesday evenings 6.30 - 9.00pm

 and John is an Associate Member of the CPA.
