LANSDOWN POTTERY

John & Penny West established Lansdown Pottery in 1999. Their work is mainly functional,
made from stoneware clay and fired in a gas kiln to 1280/1300 degrees centigrade.
Their colourful glazes are influenced a lot by the East.

More recently they have had a wood firing kiln built with the help of Joe Finch, which is used for more individual pieces.
The firing process uses Soda to give a very special effect.

John & Penny also run education classes for the
public and have a teaching workshop in the middle of
Stroud at the Centre for Science & Art. Pottery Sessions for beginners and enthusiasts:
Monday evenings, 6.30 - 9.00 p.m.
Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. 10.00am - 12.30pm
Tuesday evenings 6.30 - 9.00pm

John and Penny are both members of South Wales Potters
and John is an Associate Member of the CPA.
