Sewing Work-shops and evening courses are held at "SEW!" by M-Design Sewing Studio, 253 Gloucester Road, Cheltenham, GL51 8NW
The workshops are for people who are interested in learning to sew or improve on their existing skills.
You can use your own machine or make a reservation to use one of mine. The fabrics for your first two
projects should be bought here at the shop. But don't worry, it's unlikely to cost more than £12 for the two projects.

One-off workshops are often (though not always) based around a theme or a particular skill whereas the
evening courses are more flexible. Introduction to machine sewing, patchwork, dress-making, cushions etc.
Learn at your own pace and pick up vital sewing skills by working on a project with my help. Workshops
and courses are run with a maximum of 8 students (although 5-6 is more likely) in a friendly atmosphere.
Please also check out our reviews on Free Index

If you have a group of people wanting to learn sewing at another location or you are looking for someone
to teach a sewing project as a party exercise (birthday or hen parties) please contact me. As I have a
valid CRB-Check I will consider workshops with children and disabled people but the latter might have
   to be at another location.

Please phone or send an email inquiry if you want to find out more details about my courses. Dates for
future workshops will be announced on Twitter and on my facebook group "Sewing in Cheltenham.
(Dressmaking, Patchwork, Machine Embroidery and more.) Why not request to join if you want to keep
an eye on those? Please also look at my Bookings and Cancellation Policy below.
Things you can learn to sew:

If there are any projects I haven't mentioned here and you would like to have a go at please feel free to ask
about it. I have had a lot of requests for curtain making and I can lay on some workshop days especially for
those students who would like to do machined curtains only.
There are no workshops in the pipe-line as yet for hand-made headings and traditionally made curtains.A small zip-up bag.. This will give you an insight of how things are put together and what goes on behind the scenes so to speak. (They also make great presents)
A fold-over cushion. Quite an easy undertaking, no zip, no button , just sew!
A tote bag. Everyone needs a tote! Especially now that you have decided to sew things, you will need more bags to keep all your lovely materials and bits and bobs in.
An apron. This is a little project to teach you gathering and pockets and a lot of hemming.
A pair of pyjama bottoms. Either for yourself or a child or…..
An A-line skirt. Learn to make a skirt in just a few sessions and learn how to fit a pattern to your own size. (Ideal project for summer school)
The advanced tote. This one is made from a more advanced pattern and affords a little more time and a little more expertise. If you would like to do this you may need to book two workshop days.
A patchwork cushion. We will look at rotary cutting for patchwork and how to piece a top together. We will then learn to layer and quilt it and also make it up into a zip-up cushion.
A baby-quilt or a lap quilt to take rotary cutting just that little bit further. This will be a bigger project so you must plan in a lot more time even if you do some things at home.
Learning to embellish clothes, cushions or quilts.
A baby sleeping bag

Also please be aware of the evening classes continuing throughout the year. These are always
on Wednesdays or Thursdays from 7-9pm. Enrolment for 6 weeks at a time. Additional 6 week classes,
which are slotted in throughout the year, will be on Mondays 7-9pm. Schedule for Monday classes to be announced in advance.
Some students might prefer a 1-2-1 to learn about their sewing machine or overlocker (Both at £45)
to learn a few techniques they haven't quite mastered in class yet. These session can be half
(3hour) or full (6hour) days, (trust me, you don't want to be sewing for longer than that in
any one day) and can be arranged at your leisure after booking.
